About Virginia - Scrimshaw, Art and Children’s Books

As one of Canada’s finest scrimshanders, Ginny Hall has developed a unique style influenced by the wild beauty of British Columbia. With a degree in Environmental Science and an obvious love for nature, she primarily works on fossilized mammoth ivory. These prehistoric tusks have been preserved in the far north for thousands upon thousands of years.

Although her primary focus is scrimshaw, Ginny is an artist of many mediums and has done paintings, etchings, and snow carvings. Ginny Hall lives in Armstrong, BC and her work continually finds its way into art collections throughout the world. Please see the contact page to chat with Ginny on getting a custom scrimshaw piece.

Ginny has recently authored 3 children’s books about the seasons and how wildlife, nature and domestic animals interact with wilderness and their surrounding environment.

A collection of Ginny’s scrimshaw can be viewed and purchased online. Her children’s books are available online and in stores across BC.
